How do I become a First Aid Trainer?

A First Aid Trainer has to meet minimum qualification standards and either belong to a training establishment of some description or be employed by a recognised training establishment.

Why do I have to attend a training or induction course?

To become a successful, ITC approved, business the following are required:

* Business or Centre approval - this is intergrated into the first 2 days of the full ITC programme. Approved businesses must use accredited trainers / assessors.
* ITC Accredited Trainer status - this is gained by having a 3-day first aid at work certificate, a teaching qualification [minimum PTLLS] and verifiably demonstrating delivery competency. All is offered in the full 6-day ITC first aid training programme.

Because our programme is modular you may opt to complete the elements that you require rather than attend the entire programme.

Who are ITC?

Why use ITC?

ITC has national credibility in more than one sector. It is one of a select few companies that have Ofqual, SQA and HSE recognition status. Unlike many organisations supporting First Aid training organisations ITC do not directly deliver First Aid training (Immediate Temporary Care delivers 6-8 FAW courses as a condition of HSE approval). Therefore all leads or enquiries generated by a national presence are passed on to Providers and Centres across the UK. Indeed the ITC website provides free advertising for all Providers and their training courses.

ITC has been supporting Providers and Centres since last century and offers a regular free programme of professional development events, internal verification opportunities, quarterly newsletter, technical updates, a national network of trained supportive first aid trainers, local Senior Trainers for advice, office hours support and Trainers resource package. We believe it to be the best package of its type in the country.

Our dynamic and practical scenario based training and environment specific qualifications are effective and a pleasure to deliver. Candidates enjoy the courses and are much more likely to return with repeat and word of mouth business.

What are the costs to me?

The Induction process will cost will vary according to your requirements - £400 for the 2 day business approval or £725 for the entire training programme. Once accredited to deliver any ITC first aid qualification then candidate packs will cost you £11.50 per candidate.

ITC is a small business that believes in linking reward to efforts and developing quality for all concerned with ITC. We could have developed an approval system similar to many others where we would charge a fee and essentially leave you with little individual support to get on with running your own business. However we have developed a quality, supportive accreditation system where you benefit from a personal mentor who is paid directly by you. It is their job to get you delivering quality training, not only meeting minimum standards but aspiring for you to be the best you can be in this sector. You and that individual mentor negotiate a path to meet your needs.

Once you have verifiably demonstrated that you can organise (venue/candidates) and deliver (train, assess and use appropiorate documents) an ITC qualification you are then an approved provider and ITC will look after your needs from that point onwards. The £11.50 fee is attached to each candidate and it covers all ITC services.

Unlike other organisations just about everything else we do is extremely valuable but FREE to the user. The candidate pack fee covers our costs for:

I have clients now and cannot wait until I am accredited to deliver, what do I do?

As soon as they have attended an ITC Induction event all new ITC Providers may advertise any ITC qualification, use ITC logos and expertise. They must employ an accredited ITC Trainer / Assessor who is acredited to deliver the particular qualification. ITC will provide names and contact details of local accredited Trainers who have asked to be considered for working for new ITC businesses in these circumstances.

It is exactly what any business accredited by ITC may choose to do when it is successful and oversubscribed or key trainers are on holiday. ITC Providers or Centres employ other accredited trainers from a network of available ITC Providers, thus each small business has the advantage of a national network yet local costs.
